Welcome to the Curriculum page of Al Manara Private School! Established in 1984, we are proud to be one of Abu Dhabi's oldest schools, with a second branch opened in 2017. We offer a dynamic blend of the STEAM curriculum alongside the Ministry of Education curriculum.

Our focus is on empowering students through innovative education in a safe environment where they can learn from mistakes, think critically, and grow to their full potential.

Arabic Language Program

Arabic is the official language of the UAE, integral to the emirate’s identity and cultural heritage. At Al Manara Private School, we take pride in our distinctive Arabic curriculum, which emphasizes reading, writing, and speaking in engaging ways to keep students actively involved.

We encourage students to utilize all school facilities to strengthen their language skills, including the library for reading and the theatre for public speaking and improving handwriting. Our school actively participates in various emirate-level competitions and events, such as rhetoric, poetry recitation, reading challenges, and cultural seminars.

Mathematics Program

Our mathematics classes aim to cultivate critical thinking and problem-solving skills through systematic analysis. After conducting diagnostic assessments, we create tailored plans for each student, encompassing classwork and extracurricular activities.

We encourage practical competitions within the school, such as calculating volumes and proving the Pythagorean theorem, and promote participation in international practical challenges to broaden students' experiences.

English Language Program

As a global medium of communication, our English curriculum focuses on developing essential skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing through diverse activities tailored to different learning styles.

The school library plays a crucial role in enhancing reading and writing skills through independent reading and summarizing short stories. We also promote participation in our school radio, motivating students to showcase their language abilities. Extracurricular activities, such as Spelling Bee and Best Reader competitions, foster higher-order thinking skills and engage students at various levels.

Social Sciences Program

Our Social Sciences curriculum promotes a deep understanding of historical events, trends, and figures within their social, political, and economic contexts, both locally and globally. Through an interdisciplinary approach, students explore the impact of history on contemporary issues, enhancing their critical thinking and analytical skills.

The curriculum includes project-based learning, where students engage in research, debates, and collaborative presentations. This hands-on experience not only deepens their knowledge but also prepares them to be informed, responsible global citizens who can contribute meaningfully to society.

Design Technology Program

Our Design Technology program equips students with essential 21st-century skills through hands-on, innovative projects that foster creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Students explore topics such as engineering, robotics, digital design, and sustainable practices, engaging in the entire design process from ideation to execution.

This approach encourages collaboration and teamwork while developing adaptability and an innovative mindset. Our program aims to inspire the next generation of innovators, empowering them to thrive in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.

Arts Program

Our Arts curriculum is designed to deeply nurture students' creative skills and foster a profound appreciation for aesthetics. We believe that art plays a vital role in shaping cultural identity and understanding historical contexts. Through various artistic mediums—such as visual arts, drama, and design—students explore their creativity while learning to express themselves effectively.

We emphasize the significance of art in history and culture, encouraging students to analyze and reflect on how art influences society. This curriculum not only cultivates talent but also promotes critical thinking and collaboration, enabling students to connect their artistic endeavors to broader cultural narratives.

Music Program

The Music curriculum at our school places a strong emphasis on creative expression as a fundamental part of the learning process. By integrating critical thinking and various subjects, we enhance students' overall educational experience.

Students engage in diverse musical activities that foster their ability to communicate emotions and ideas through sound. Our program encourages collaboration and teamwork, as students often work together to create, perform, and analyze music. Additionally, we highlight the role of music in history and culture, helping students understand its impact on society and their personal development. Through this holistic approach, we aim to cultivate not only musical skills but also a lifelong appreciation for the arts.

Library Resources

Our library, housing approximately 6,000 books, serves the entire school community, including students, teachers, and administrators. Equipped with computers for research and a data projector for presentations, the library actively participates in cultural activities at both state and emirate levels.

Engaging library classes that promote reading, research, and summarization across all grades.
Encouraging students to conduct research and report on contemporary figures, such as Hazza bin Zayed, the first Arab astronaut.
Hosting an annual book fair in collaboration with a publishing house, serving students from kindergarten to grade twelve.
Integrating library resources to support academic curricula in subjects like Arabic, English, Islamic Education, and Social Studies.
Creating interactive activities like “My Mom Reads to Me,” “Reading Café,” and “The Talking Book” session.
Developing projects that enhance curriculum understanding, such as exploring Arab and European theatre and the significance of silent books.
Organizing cultural events and participating in Reading Month with engaging activities.
Conducting visits to local cultural sites and hosting virtual trips during the pandemic.
