Special Education Department Responsibilities

The Special Education Department oversees the implementation of our Special Educational Needs (SEN) strategy and policy. Key responsibilities include:

Conducting assessments to identify needs and monitor progress through classroom observations and consultations with teachers and parents.
Utilizing standardized assessments such as VP-MAPP and ABLLS-R to inform our strategies.
Collaborating with teachers, school leadership, parents, and external agencies to create and monitor Individualized Support/Learning Plans.
Providing regular updates on student progress through written reports and parent meetings.
Referring and liaising with external professionals, including psychologists, health and social care providers, speech and language therapists, and occupational therapists.

Teacher Support & Training

We equip our teachers with the knowledge and resources to effectively support students with SEN. This includes:

Offering guidance and training on the latest teaching strategies, including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
Assisting in the development of action plans and learning programs for students with SEN.
Helping teachers implement effective teaching and behavior management techniques in the classroom.

Continuous Improvement

We manage school budgets and resources for SEN provisions while maintaining accurate and up-to-date pupil records. By analyzing school, local, and national data, we develop targeted strategies and interventions to enhance student outcomes. Our team includes SEN teachers, teaching assistants, and support staff dedicated to improving student progress and achievement.
